Your Care
Hospice Waikato services are for people who have reached a palliative stage in their illness where the focus of treatment is on comfort and quality of life, rather than cure.
Healthcare Professionals (the Hospital Team or the patient’s General Practitioner) can make the referral to Hospice Waikato and once the referral has been accepted, the patient and their family and whānau receive wrap around care to address pain management and symptom control, and to provide psychosocial and spiritual support.
Our Vision of “Living Every Moment” moves the focus of our care delivery away from dying. Instead, it empowers staff to look at innovative ways to support the patients in their care, and their whānau and caregivers, enabling them to make the most of every moment they have.
Our clinical team of Doctors, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Registered Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, Counsellors and Social Workers are experts in all aspects of end-of-life care. Our Kaiāwhina support our team to provide culturally appropriate care and will liaise with Māori Health Providers across the region to assist in meeting patient and whānau needs.
It is our absolute privilege to be able to support Waikato families in this way.
This page includes videos of members of our team explaining the different aspects of our care and we’ve included documents which provide additional information about each aspect of our service delivery.
Hospice Waikato Feedback
Hearing from our patients and their whānau about the care they are receiving from Hospice Waikato is very important to us. If you are being cared for by Hospice Waikato, you will receive a phone call from a member of our team who will ask about your experience and we would appreciate your honest feedback. It enables us to keep improving our service. If you ever have any specific feedback that you would like to share with us, please don't hesitate to make contact directly. Thank you.
