Serious Illness Conversation Guide
The Serious Illness Conversation Guide (SICG) is a framework for best communication practices that increases confidence to have conversations with seriously ill people about their current and future health care planning.
This three-hour SICG training workshop will:
- Describe the evidence-based benefits of serious illness conversations for patients and families
- Describe the clinician’s role in improving serious illness conversations
- List the components of the Serious Illness Conversation Guide
- Allow you to practice using the Serious Illness Conversation Guide
Learning Outcomes:
- Describe the evidence-based benefits of serious illness conversations for a person / family/whanau.
- Describe your role in improving serious illness conversations.
- List the components of the Serious Illness Conversation Guide (SICG).
- Demonstrate supporting Māori health gains.
- Initiate and conduct a serious illness conversation.
Course pre-requisite: complete Ko Awatea online eLearning modules. All Clinical staff are invited to register.
