Our sweet partnership with Good Bitches Baking

Since August 2016, Hospice Waikato has been on the receiving end of a very special kind of support—one that’s wrapped in kindness, tied with ribbon, and delivered fresh every Sunday. Thanks to the unwavering dedication of the Good Bitches Baking (GBB) team, home baking has become a heartfelt symbol of care, connection, and community for patients, families, and staff.

For over nine years, GBB volunteers have delivered three boxes of home baking every single Sunday, never missing a beat. That’s more than just baked goods—it’s a steady rhythm of kindness that has helped lift spirits and ease difficult days. These treats offer more than just nourishment—they deliver warmth and a reminder that the community cares.

While Sundays mark the regular delivery of baking, GBB’s generosity has extended well beyond weekly offerings:

Christmas Kindness: Since 2021, GBB has brought extra cheer to Hospice Waikato’s annual Christmas party with pre-packaged, themed Christmas biscuits—a festive touch that’s become a cherished tradition.

April 2024: Guests at Kowhai House received monthly deliveries of biscuits baked by the Heartlands Ambassador Hotel—a thoughtful collaboration that brought comfort and a taste of home to many.

December 2024: A new and deeply meaningful addition came with Christmas-decorated biscuits from GBB’s Prison Bake Programme, reinforcing the idea that kindness can come from all corners of the community.

October 2025 (Coming Soon): Plans are underway for a new freezable baking option, allowing nurses to carry kindness directly to patients in the community—a beautiful way to extend GBB’s reach even further.

Since this partnership began, GBB has gifted Hospice Waikato with an incredible 1,595 boxes of kindness—each one a moment of care, comfort, and connection. With a standard monthly delivery of 23 boxes across four weekends, the impact continues to grow, box by box, bake by bake.

To every volunteer who has stirred, baked, packaged, and delivered these gifts of goodness—thank you. Your efforts have brought joy in quiet moments, lifted spirits in tough times, and reminded us all of the power of small acts of kindness. The partnership between Hospice Waikato and Good Bitches Baking is proof that love and compassion can truly be shared—one box of baking at a time.
