Nourish a Week

Nourish a Week is a dedicated donation opportunity which directly supports Hospice Waikato's Inpatient Unit, enabling those people or businesses with a special interest in ensuring hospice care remains free, to donate a week of meals for patients being cared for in the Unit.

The cost of this tax deductible donation opportunity is $1,000.

Our 11-bed Inpatient Unit, located at 334 Cobham Drive in Hamilton, provides 24/7 care for adult patients from throughout the Waikato who require complex symptom management and end-of-life care.  

The Inpatient Unit also provides a safe place for single and multi-day respite for the medically fragile children under the care of our paediatric service, Rainbow Place, enabling their families and caregivers to have a much needed break when things get just too tough.  

Our Inpatient Unit team includes clinical specialist palliative care doctors and nurses who are committed to providing holistic care are respecting the cultural needs of our patients and their families.  Health care assistants, counsellors, social workers, our spiritual care co-ordinator and kaiāwhina provide psychosocial support, ensuring a compassionate and caring experience for patients and families alike.

Onsite at Cobham Drive is our industrial kitchen, tasked with providing meals for the adults and children being cared for in the Unit.  Meals are prepared with our patients very much front of mind, with an understanding that at end-of-life, people's nutritional needs and preferences vary greatly.

Our Inpatient Unit is a very special environment for patients and their families at a very difficult time.
