An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, knowledgeable and vibrant person to lead our education and training team as a Clinical Nurse Educator.

The successful person will lead a professional team who develop and deliver evidence based education and training programmes to Registered Nurses, Health Care assistants, other health professionals and the general public in a variety of settings including aged related residential care facilities, primary health care, rural hospital and other community services. The education we provide includes in-service education, Hospice New Zealand programmes, seminars, study days, and eLearning.

Leading the education team, this role also carries primary responsibility for the delivery of clinical education and assessing the ongoing competency of Registered Nurses and Health Care Assistants across the Hospice Waikato in-patient unit, community and paediatric teams. The emphasis will be on developing and maintaining the clinical skills and competency of nurses working with adults and children in a palliative care setting.

To be the right fit for this role and our organisation you would bring:

Essential:

• A current Nursing Council of NZ practising certificate for RN scope of practice
• Sound level of experience in a Leadership role, preferably within palliative care
• Experience in adult education, preceptorship or mentoring
• Significant experience in palliative care nursing
• Post-registration qualification in Palliative Care or a related field (minimum of Post-Graduate Diploma.
• Prepared to work towards a Masters qualification
• Competent with information technology, digital devices and eLearning
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of an interdisciplinary team
• Current full New Zealand driver’s license
