Registered Nurse - Rainbow Place Nursing Team

Rainbow Place is the children and young people’s service of Hospice Waikato – we are the only hospice in New Zealand that offers specialist child-focussed palliative care services supporting children and young people aged 0-18 years, and their families, living with a life limiting/life threatening condition.

Care and support are offered to children and young people often for many years from diagnosis of a life limiting/life threatening condition, throughout the child/young person’s life, end of life care and onto bereavement support. The Rainbow Place team work alongside other health professionals involved in the care of the child/young person, providing skilled paediatric palliative care input, and supporting their family/carers.

Care and support is provided wherever it is needed, such as the family home, school, hospital and other community facilities, as well as the Rainbow Place facilities and Hospice Waikato In-Patient Unit for respite, symptom control and end of life care. Rainbow Place staff are supported in their work by the large team of specialist palliative care staff at Hospice Waikato, including voluntary staff who enhance the service and facilities in a variety of ways.
