Syringe Driver Competency Programme

Hospice Waikato has developed an online learning package called PalEd. If you are a registered or enrolled nurse working within the Waikato region you can sign up for the online Syringe Driver Competency Programme. This programme is endorsed by Hospice New Zealand and will take around 2 hours to complete.

To self-register for a username and password, please CLICK HERE The online programme is free of charge. Note registrations can take up to 48 hours to be approved.

Once you have successfully passed the assessments you can then book to attend the practical competency workshop to gain a full certificate of competency. Please note if we are in the green and orange zones of the New Zealand government traffic light system these workshops will be held on site at Hospice Waikato (334 Cobham Drive, Hillcrest, Hamilton), there is a charge of $20 to cover resources and equipment supplies. You must wear a face mask and comply with social distancing rules.

IF WE ARE IN THE RED ZONE training will be via Zoom, please note you will need a Nikki-T Syringe Driver on hand, a 20ml or 30ml syringe and suitable technology, joining via your cellphone is not advisable.

Practical workshops are also available in rural Waikato areas if there are adequate numbers. To arrange please contact your Hospice Waikato ARRC Liaison Clinical Nurse Specialist.
