Syringe Driver Competency Programme

Syringe Driver Competency Programme is now online

Hospice Waikato has developed an online learning site called PalEd and the Syringe Driver Competency Programme is now available for registered nurses and enrolled nurses employed by ARRC facilities and Hospices to complete. This programme is endorsed by Hospice New Zealand and will take around 2 hours to complete. To register you will require a login to PalEd which can be obtained by emailing the Paled Administrator paled@hospicewaikato.org.nz the following information: name, email address, job title, name of ARRC facility or Hospice employed by. This programme is free of charge.

• If a nurse successfully passes the online syringe driver competency programme they can then enrol in the 1-hour practical competency workshop to gain their full certificate of competency.
• If a nurse fails the online components, they will be contacted by Hospice Waikato and individual tuition will be offered.
• 1-hour practical session dates will be offered fortnightly and there will be a charge of $20 to cover resources and equipment supplies.
• 1-hour practical sessions will also be available in rural Waikato areas if there are adequate numbers.

Syringe Driver Competency Programme

Waikato Nurses can book into a 1-hour practical competency workshop by clicking HERE, these sessions are held onsite at Hospice Waikato, 334 Cobham Drive, Hamilton. Please note you cannot book into a session until you have passed the theory and calculation tests as mentioned above. For nurses outside of the Waikato please contact your local Hospice.
