Our Family Services team, provides support for children and young people affected by a life limiting or life threatening condition, and/or affected by the illness and death of a family/whanau or significant person.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Counsellor to join our Family Services team part time, 24 hours per week. This role will involve working alongside other professionals to provide psychosocial counselling for children, young people, adults and their family/whanau/carers who are receiving specialist palliative care. As a member of the Family Services Team, you will be integral in the provision of patient and family/whanau/carer focused care. You will be committed to the on-going development of your counselling, and palliative care knowledge and understanding.

To be the right person for this role and our organisation it is expected you would bring:
• Tertiary Qualification in Counselling with own Code of Ethics
• Membership with NZAC and/or NZCCA
• Experience of working with children, young people, adults and their families living with life limiting conditions and/or other significant life challenges
• Experience and training related to working with children, young people and their families affected by
loss, grief and bereavement
• Knowledge of palliative care and Hospice philosophy
• A passion for supporting palliative patients, their family/whānau and caregivers
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of an interdisciplinary team
• Proven success in providing support for team members both on an individual and group basis
• Emotional maturity and resilience
• Current full New Zealand driver’s licence
