HOSPICE WAIKATO RECENTLY WON THE WAIKATO BUSINESS EXCELLENCE 2007 NOT FOR PROFIT AWARD
The judges commented that the winner of the Newstalk ZB Not for Profit and Public Sector Award stands out in the way it meets the needs of clients and staff through exceptional organisational empathy, and an innovative, highly specialized and unique method of service delivery. It stands out in its operations and financial planning and it benchmarking against other similar organisations while living its cultural philosophy
Special thanks goes out to the board, staff, present and past, our many volunteers and the Waikato community - without their valuable support we would not be the organisation we are today.
WHAT IS HOSPICE WAIKATO?

Hospice Waikato is a philosophy of service developed to provide specialised care for people who are dying – supporting them, their families and carers through illness, death and bereavement. Hospice is a Charitable Trust founded in 1981 independent of any other organisation and administered by a Board of Trustees. Hospice Waikato is financially supported through the generosity of individuals, community groups, businesses, trusts and foundations and the wider community.
WHO IS THIS SERVICE FOR?
People who have reached a palliative stage in their illness where the focus of treatment is on comfort and quality of life rather than cure and for the people who care for them. Hospice Waikato services are available to all people, regardless of their ethnicity, age, culture, gender or illness.
DO YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR HOSPICE CARE?
All Hospice Waikato services are provided at no charge to patients and their families / whanau.
HOW CAN THIS SERVICE BE ACCESSED?
Patients [or their family / whanau] can contact us direct, or ask their doctor, health professional or hospital ward to refer them.
RAINBOW PLACE
Rainbow Place offers a unique child-focused, family-centred service and was the first of its kind established in New Zealand. As with all Hospice Waikato models of care, services are provided to children, teenagers and their families/whanau at no charge. Rainbow Place supports families through serious illness and bereavement
